Deletion of nrd1⁺ suppresses the sterility of Δrcd1 cells. The h⁹⁰, h⁹⁰ Δnrd1, h⁹⁰ Δrcd1, and h⁹⁰ Δnrd1 Δrcd1 cells were grown in PM medium to mid-log phase. Each strain was then inoculated into nitrogen-free PM medium plus 2% glucose at a concentration of 10⁷ cells/ml and incubated at 30°C for 50 h, and the number of zygotes was counted.
