Influence of phosphatidylserine containing vesicles on the HDX-MS profile of VP40. VP40 was incubated with MLVs containing POPC, and the reaction stopped at 10 s, 100 s, 1000 s, 10,000 s, and 100,000 s. The complete amino acid sequence is shown for VP40 including the N-terminal His tag. Red (see scale bar) indicates regions with faster exchange of deuterium in the presence of PC compared to VP40 in solution. Blue shows regions that exchange slower in the presence of PC. Three technical replicates were performed for each experiment.
