^aCells overexpressing fnx1⁺ from the REP1-fnx1⁺ plasmid and cells expressing GFP from the pGFP41 plasmid were mixed in a 1:1 or a 10:1 ratio and incubated in conditions that derepress the promoter. By 24 h the GFP-expressing cells overgrew the fnx1⁺-expressing cells.
