^aStrains were incubated at the indicated temperature for 10 min, labeled with [³⁵S]cysteine and [³⁵S]methionine for 10 min, and chased with unlabeled cysteine and methionine for 45 min. Cells were then spheroplasted, and samples were centrifuged to generate intracellular and extracellular fractions. CPY was immunoprecipitated and quantified by autoradiography.
