Western blot analysis of secreted gC. Glycoproteins of supernatants of CEC infected with the various viruses as well as of an uninfected control (mock) were precipitated with ConA-Sepharose beads. Precipitates were separated by SDS-10% PAGE and detected with the gC-specific MAb A6. A signal in supernatants of infected cells could be seen only in the case of v20ExpgC, and a protein of 57 to 65 kDa in size was specifically detected. Sizes of prestained molecular weight markers (Bio-Rad) are given.
