Biofilm forming variants are highly attenuated by challenge mimicking vector exposure in BALB/c mice. Groups of mice (n=10) were challenged with the indicated strain either (a) subcutaneously (FRAN244) or (b) intradermally (FRAN255) and monitored for survivalfor 14 days post challenge. The LD₅₀ values for the parent strains were determined as indicated in red. However, all mice challenged with the biofilm forming variants survived at all challenge doses; therefore, an LD₅₀ was not able to be determined.
