A ΔwbtJ mutant is completely attenuated in a pneumonic tularaemia mouse model and virulence can be restored by complementation. Groups consisting of 10 mice were challenged intranasally with a range of doses for either a ΔwbtJ mutant (left) or the complemented strain (right). As a control for these experiments, one group of mice was challenged with the LVS parent (red line). The mice were followed for 21 days post challenge. The accompanying LD₅₀ values and the median time-to-death calculated from these data are displayed in Table 5.
