Purification of P22 VLPs. Size exclusion chromatography profile of P22 VLPs purification on a HiPrep 16/60 Sephacryl S-500HR. A sample was loaded followed by 1 column volume of PBS. Two milliliters of eluted fractions was collected. Peak 1 (42.6 mL) shows a fraction that contains incomplete assembled VLPs or larger aggregated VLPs, and peak 2 (57.2 mL) shows well-formed VLPs. Representative fractions from peak 1 and peak 2 were applied onto copper grid and stained with 2% aqueous uranyl acetate. The morphology was analyzed under TEM. The scale bars represent 50 nm.
