UppSUN demonstrates decreased enzymatic rate and results in decreased cellular Und-P compared to UppSVU. (A) UppS activity with 2CNA-GPP, a fluorescent analog of the endogenous substrate farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP). Activity of purified UppS from strains A. baumannii ATCC 17978VU (green) and 17978UN (blue) was measured with the 2CNA-GPP substrate analogue and monitoring fluorescence increase upon elongation at 340 nm excitation and 390 nm emission. Data are n = 1. Experiments were conducted three independent times with similar results.
