The effect of preincubating the HIV-gp120 particles with 5 mg of mannan per ml (░⃞) or 100 mM αMMP (▾) and using FSK- and IBMX-treated cells is also shown. The transcytosis rate of the glycine-coated control particles was subtracted separately for each individual experiment to correct for the nonspecific transcytosis referred to above. Additionally, the absolute transcytosis rates of the glycine-coated particles are shown (○). All data are given as means ± standard errors of the means of quadruplicate measurements.
