SFRP2 induces epithelial mesenchymal transformation and collagen production in fibroblasts. (A) Human skin and mouse pancreatic fibroblasts were either untreated (control) or treated for 48 hours with SFRP2 (30 nM) or TGFβ (5 nM), and protein levels were analyzed by western blot. Band densities (average intensity x band surface) were normalized to the loading control, GAPDH, to eliminate inter-sample variability. Results were normalized to the untreated control and presented as intensity ratio. (A, B) TGFβ and SFRP2 treatments induce an increase of N-cadherin (A) and fibronectin (B) protein levels in both human skin and mouse pancreatic fibroblasts.
