Verifying microbial functionalities with state‐of‐the‐art techniques. Many gut microbes have been found to be associated with various diseases in human participant‐based studies. Although the potential functional role of the gut microbes can be predicted via various bioinformatics tools, the proposed putative functionalities of gut microbes of interest lack functional validation.
