A) Alkaline comet assay measures of PBL DNA damage formation (% Tail DNA) following FLASH (2 kGy/s) or conventional dose rate (CONV, 0.1 Gy/s) irradiation to various total doses. Data expressed as the mean % Tail DNA of three slides (n = 3); error bars indicate standard deviation of the means for each experimental condition. Statistical analysis (two-tailed unpaired t-test) FLASH vs CONV revealed no significant differences for doses ≤ 10 Gy. However, statistically significant differences were found for 20, 30 and 40 Gy (**, p < 0.01; *, p < 0.05).
