DNAJA1-KO protects the HS-damaged cytoskeleton and TJs in the HUVEC monolayer. Confluent HUVEC monolayers were cultured at 43°C for 4 h and prepared for testing immediately thereafter. The cytoskeleton and TJs were examined using immunofluorescence analysis. (A) ZO-1 (green), phalloidin (red) and DAPI (blue) staining were conducted to assess the integrity of the cytoskeleton and TJs. (B) JAM-A (green), phalloidin (red) and DAPI (blue) staining were conducted to assess the integrity of the cytoskeleton and TJs (scale bar, 20 µm). KO, knockout; HS, heat stroke; CON, control; HUVECs, human umbilical vein endothelial cells; ZO-1, zonula occludens-1; JAM-A, junctional adhesion molecule A; TJs, tight junctions.
