Table 3.

Recommendations for future school-based flu vaccination campaigns based on parenteral experience.

Recommendations
  • Make the beginning of school vaccination coincides with the beginning of the childhood flu campaign. This would have two advantages:

    • Not having to go at the healthcare center “in advance.”

    • Favoring classroom immunity prior to the first flu outbreaks.

  • Reserve a space at the information meeting at the beginning of the course to communicate that vaccination against flu will be taken place at school.

  • When providing the informed consent form, it is advisable to include some simple visual information (e.g. brochure) reinforcing the reasons for vaccination and the type of vaccine (intranasal).

  • Reminders for those who have not provided the informed consent form (e.g. messaging apps).

  • Provide short and clear information on what should be observed and how to act in case of appearance of any side effect.
