Abbreviation and definition: eGFR, estimated glomerular filtration rate expressed as mL/min/1.73 m2. Rates for African Americans are multiplied by 1.25 and 1.5 for eGFRs of 30 to 59 and 15 to 29 mL/min/1.73 m2, respectively; corresponding rates for non–African Americans are multiplied by 0.875 and 0.8 (Hoerger et al8).
