Table 1.

Unadjusted CACFP Participation Rates Among Licensed Child Care Centers by Region

USDA regionsa Full sample, %
(N=93,227)
Low-income areas, %
(n=17,229)
Mid-Atlantic 29.94 59.45
Midwest 38.83 58.93
Mountain Plains 32.15 49.27
Northeast 27.20 58.94
Southeast 47.63 60.46
Southwest 43.78 57.78
West 28.72 45.92
Total 36.48 57.49

Note: Boldface indicates statistical significance. A Bayesian model was used to compare the participation rates of different regions to the overall participation rate. To determine statistical significance, the 95% Bayesian credible interval (CI) for the deviations of each region from the grand mean (total) were used in an unadjusted model. A Bonferroni-corrected significance level of 0.63% was used to consider the number of groups compared. If the Bayesian CI associated with a region does not include 0, the result is considered statistically significant.
