Number of PSI charge separations induced by an actinic xenon flash after a saturating laser flash given at time 0. Data were normalized to the amplitude of the signal induced by the laser flash, taken as 100% of PSI charge separation. Other conditions were as in Fig. 2. Data were calculated from the extent of the electrochromic signal, which is linearly related to the amplitude of light-driven charge separation. Hydroxylamine and 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea were added to inhibit PSII photochemistry. Traces represent the difference between the absorption at 515 and 545 nm.
