Late-stage CI and rescue embryos collected at approximately 3 h AED were immunostained with CifA and CifB antibodies. We consistently detected concentrated patchy signals of CifA adjoining the periphery of separating chromosomes at anaphase and in the cytoplasm of divided nuclei at 4 to 5 and later division cycles, respectively (Fig 5A and 5A’). In contrast, the CI embryos collected at the same time showed disrupted nuclear divisions and no signals of neither CifA nor CifB (Fig 5B and 5B’).
