Overview of the experimental visits. Participants arrived in the morning after an overnight fast. After measuring resting energy expenditure for 15 minutes and drawing a fasted blood sample, participants consumed a 500-mL beverage containing either 0, 20, or 40 g of whey protein in a randomized, cross-over design. Thirty minutes after ingestion, participants cycled for 1 h at 60% of peak power output (PPO).
