Transcription occurs in the leftward direction, generating two transcripts of 1.8 (SM) and 1.7 (M) kb in length. The phosphoproteins migrate at approximately 50 and 60 kDa in SDS-PAGE. The shaded portions of SM and M are identical; the hatched region of SM represents the extra N-terminal 41 amino acids encoded by BSLF2.
