Subcellular localization of Rex mutant proteins in transfected HeLa cells. Cells transfected with the indicated Rex mutants were either incubated in medium alone (−Act.D) (A, C, E, G, I, L, N, P, and R) or exposed to 50 μg of cycloheximide per ml plus 5 μg of the transcription inhibitor actinomycin D per ml (+Act. D) (B, D, F, H, K, M, O, Q, and S). After fixation, the subcellular locations of the various Rex proteins were determined by indirect immunofluorescence with a rabbit polyclonal anti-Rex antibody (14) and rhodamine-conjugated secondary antibody.
