• Excessive level of support can result in:
 1. Respiratory alkalosis
 2. Hyperinflation
 3. Ineffective triggering
 4. Apneic spells
• Suboptimal support can result in:
 1. Diaphragmatic fatigue
 2. Respiratory acidosis
