Table 1.
Cytotoxicity assessment of EPMC in HepG2 and A549 cells, and evaluation of EPMC's anti-DENV-2 activities.
| Cell | MNTD80 (μM) ± SD | CC50 (μM) ± SD | EC50 (μM) ± SD | SI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HepG2 | 602.68 ± 56.54 | 731.51 ± 38.85 | 22.58 ± 3.67 | 32.40 |
| A549 | 851.61 ± 99.00 | 1070.13 ± 51.86 | 6.17 ± 0.28 | 173.44 |
The maximum-non-toxic dose (MNTD80) is the dose at which 80% of the cells remain viable, while the half-maximal cytotoxicity concentration (CC50) is the concentration at which 50% of the cell viability is reduced. The half-maximal effective concentration (EC50) refers to the concentration of EPMC required to inhibit viral progeny by 50%. The selectivity index (SI) was calculated as the ratio of EPMC's cytotoxicity to its antiviral activity (CC50/EC50). Data were acquired from three independent experiments and presented as mean ± SD.
