Table 1.

Surgical Pearls and Pitfalls

Surgical visualization considerations (1)Opening rotator interval is the initial procedure in exposing the subscapularis tendon.
  • (2)

The satisfactory visualization of the bare footprint of lesser tuberosity will be obtained just by pushing the medial suspensory ligament anteriorly and distally.

  • (3)

Rotation of the arm is helpful to improve the surgical visualization.

  • (4)

When the drooping deltoid fascia is pushed away by Kirschner wire, the surgical visualization will be better.

The repair procedure considerations (1)A single suture anchor can meet the requirement of anatomic reattachment of subscapularis tendon.
  • (2)

Single-row or Mason–Allen fashion is the optional choice.

  • (3)

The subscapularis tendon is sewn approximately 2-3 mm distal to the edge of tendon tear.
