Hypertensive mice were hypolipidemic and their RBC membrane had altered phospholipid content. Serum was collected from 8-wk-old male BPN and BPH mice (n = 5) for measurement of (A) serum total cholesterol, (B) triglycerides, and (C) phospholipids. Uncoagulated RBC from 8-wk-old male BPN and BPH mice (n = 5) was collected, and RBC ghost membranes were prepared to be analyzed for (D) phospholipids and (E) cholesterol; (F) Cholesterol and Phospholipid ratio (Chol/PL); and (G) % Stearate and (H) % Arachidonate in phospholipids.
