The residues involved in chelating the active metal and the stabilizing zinc cluster in EndoVII are shown in the ball-and-stick representation. The orientations of the N-terminal helices differ in the two families. Note the highly conserved histidine shared by these families that faces away from the chelated active metal and is required for catalysis.
