The date of publication for included publications ranged from 2010 to 2022, with the majority (n=21, 60%) of publications occurring within the last 5 years (2017–2022). The studies reported in these publications included quantitative (n=16), qualitative (n=16) and mixed methodologies (n=3). Inconsistent comparison groups were reported in 10 publications,27 28 36–42 56 and included mothers separated from their children^{27 42} and mothers ineligible for an M&C.³⁹ Table 1 details the study characteristics.
