Lectin inhibition of EV70 binding. HCE cells were dispersed with trypsin-EDTA and washed twice in OptiMEM. U-937 cells (A) and HCE cells (B) were pelleted, washed, resuspended (3.5 × 10⁶ cells/ml) in OptiMEM in the presence or absence of different lectins at the indicated concentrations, and incubated for 30 min at room temperature. The cells were then washed once, and virus binding was assessed. The experiment was repeated three times. The error bars represent standard deviations.
