Schematic diagram of the action mechanism of siderophores. After being excreted from the cell, the siderophores in the cell combine with Fe3+ in the surrounding environment to form chelates. After being recognized by the cell, the chelates are reabsorbed into the cell, and iron is released in the form of Fe2+ in two ways for the cell to use.
