Newton diagrams for the
breakup of (a) 1-IP2+/3+ and
(b) 2-IP2+/3+ into (I+ + CH+3 + C2H4/C2H+4).
The correlation of I+ and CH+3 has been calculated using a 2-fold contingent
covariance analysis, wherein the momentum of the third fragment is
deduced through momentum conservation in the center-of-mass (COM)
frame. Three dissociation channels that contribute are28 (I) sequential and (II) concerted three-body
breakup of IP3+ and (III, IV) sequential three-body breakup
of IP2+. In panels (c,d), the signals from the (III) sequential
breakup of IP2+, where I+ is the primary fragment,
have been separated while (e,f) show the isolated signals that correspond
to (IV) sequential breakup of IP2+ with a primary CH+3 product. Each
panel is normalized separately.
