Scheme 1. Illustration of the rotating disk bipolar electrode (RDBPE) polarized by the feeder electrodes schematized at both extremities in order to drive electrochemical reactions including electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emission triggered on the anodic pole. Simultaneous oxidation of ECL reagents (TPA stands for tri-n-propylamine) at the anodic pole (δ+) and reduction of dioxygen and water at the cathodic pole (δ) induce light emission during the rotation of the RDBPE. The direction of the rotation is indicated with a purple arrow.
