Effect of H. elongata and S. fusiforme SCF extracts on cholesterol efflux in THP-1-derived macrophages. Cholesterol efflux from THP-1-derived macrophages to ApoA-I (10 µg/mL) (a) and HDL (12.5 µg/mL) (b) was determined after 20 h incubation with H. elongata lipid extract or S. fusiforme SCF extract. The extracts were added based on their saringosterol concentration (on the X-axis). Cells incubated with 22OH-C/9cRA (5 µg/mL/10 µM) served as a positive control.
