Schematic representation of the effects of C. maritimum on HCC cell lines with different degrees of tumorigenicity and Warburg phenotype. As described in the text, C. maritimum prevents lipid accumulation, reduces the expression of key genes that control lipogenesis, and selectively promotes the normalisation of metabolic markers of cellular health.
