The dataset is composed of four samples from the same mouse. The sagittal brain was divided into an anterior and a posterior half and two parallel sections were obtained for each half, for a total of 4 samples. We depict the results of applying mNSF using 20 factors to these 4 samples. Factor M9 (left) exhibits high use in the cerebellum and is an example of a factor specific to the posterior brain. Factor M17 (right) exhibits high use in both the hippocampus and hypothalamus regions, where the hippocampus region spans the posterior and anterior areas. This is an example of a factor which varies continuously across disjoint samples. All 20 factors are depicted in Supplementary Figure S1
