A schematic depicting the scattering planes that can be accessed in a concentric cylinder geometry. Scattering with the beam perpendicular to the geometry allows for the 1–3 scattering plane to be accessed, while aligning the beam such that it passes tangentially through the geometry results in scattering in the 2–3 scattering pane. These two images are combined to provide a complete 3-dimensional representation of the microstructure.
