Jack Parr served in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Burma, Malaysia, and Egypt. He then worked in hospital medicine in Cardiff and studied for qualifications in child health and public health before becoming a general practitioner in Barry. He was a member of the BMA for 57 years and was made a fellow in 1994. Weekends and holidays were spent on his canal boat. He leaves a wife, Audrey; two children; and three grandchildren.
