Compensation of defects caused by the LD5 deletion by the MP2 and MNC point mutations. MT-2 cells were infected with equivalent amounts of mutant (BH10-LD5 [□] and BH10-LD5-MP2-MNC [◊]) or wild-type (BH10 [○]) viruses on the basis of CA protein levels, and virus production was monitored by levels of reverse transcriptase (RT) generated thereafter.
