Example search strategy for the PubMed database. The asterisk (*) is used as a truncation symbol in search strategies. It allows for the inclusion of multiple word variations that start with the same root. For example, using “electr*” in a search query will capture terms like “electric”, “electrical”, “electricity”, “electron”, among others.
