Figure 6. Presymptomatic circuit manipulation in motor cortex of R6/2 mice does not affect exploratory and anxiety-like behavior in R6/2 mice.

Figure 6.

(A – D) Open field behaviors of wildtype and R6/2 mice. None of the tested parameters were affected by BL-OG stimulation of M1 cortical neurons. Significance was assessed by two-way ANOVA with Tukey’s post hoc comparison. All data are presented as the mean ± SEM (n = 14 – 16 mice/group). (A) R6/2 mice made significantly fewer basic and fine movements starting at week 5 and much more pronounced at week 10 compared to wildtype mice. (B) Rearing behavior in R6/2 mice was significantly affected at week 10, as the disease progressed. (C) R6/2 mice covered less distance in center and periphery starting at week 5 and more pronounced at week 10 compared to wildtype mice. (D) There were no noticeable differences in the total time spent either in the center or periphery of the cage between wildtype and R6/2 mice, either treated or untreated, at either age group.
