Process-mediated cell-to-cell spread in GCCM cells infected with MVeGFP. Astrocytoma cells at 60% confluency were infected with MVeGFP at an MOI of 0.01. (A) Two infected cells were identified by UV microscopy at 66 h p.i. and observed for a further 21 h at approximately 4-h intervals. (B) The arrow indicates an extended astrocyte process of a newly infected cell. (C) The arrow indicates the weakly autofluorescent nucleus of a cell in the very early stages of infection. (D and E) The arrows indicate the same nucleus 5 and 7 h later. (F) The arrow indicates an extended astrocytic process emanating from the cell indicated in panels D and E.
