Induction of PCD by FB₁ or C₆-ceramide. CV-1 cells were cotransfected with plasmid pCMV-β-gal (2 μg) and the designated plasmid (4 μg). After transfection, cells were treated with 20 μM C₆-ceramide for 48 h, fixed, and stained with Bluo-Gal 5-bromo-3-indolyl-β-d-galactopyranoside for 24 h. As a control, some cultures were treated with PBS. Morphology of typical blue cells is shown.
