We investigated the prognostic impact of targets in primary tumors only, since recurrent and metastatic tumors were more heterogeneous with respect to disease course and treatment. Only patients treated with curative intent (n = 55) were included. Survival data were analyzed with the Kaplan-Meier method, using log-rank test to compare. For none of the proteins of interest a statistically significant difference between the 2 curves was observed. For CXCR4, samples from 2 patients were unevaluable (= no tissue was present in the cores on the tissue microarray slide) and as such not included.
