Multidimensional Poverty and Risk of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

A higher burden of multidimensional poverty is associated with up to 2.0-fold increased prevalence of ASCVD. The multidimensional weighted deprivation score (ci) considers dimensions such as income, education, self-reported health, and health insurance status to capture poverty. The ci has values from 0 to 1: 0 (no deprivation in any dimension), 0.25 (deprived in any 1 dimension), 0.50 (deprived in 2 dimensions), 0.75 (deprived in 3 dimensions), and 1.00 (deprived in all 4 dimensions). ASCVD = atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
