Errors of 2D-based volume estimation are reduced when using [Eq. 2]. The top cutting plane (approximately parallel to the longest axes of the artificial lacuna) mostly results in higher errors than the frontal cutting plane (approximately along the longest and shortest axis). Using a cutoff shifts the error by 3–7%
