In Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care‐IV (MIMIC‐IV) cohort, the p for trend among serum magnesium groups is less than 0.001, while in institutional cohort it is 0.028. Institutional cohorts adjusted for age, gender, ethnicity, body mass index (BMI), laboratory tests (white blood cell count, hemoglobin, platelets, serum creatinine, international normalized ratio, serum potassium, and total bilirubin), and comorbidities (hypertension, liver disease, renal failure, diabetes, malignant cancer, chronic pulmonary disease, and cerebrovascular disease).
