All adult patients presenting to study emergency departments (EDs) will be screened for enrollment. Based on the vital signs trajectory algorithm, patients will be classified as group A, B, C, or D. Those in group D with a blood culture order in whom a clinician initiates a normal saline order are randomized to usual care or intervention.
