In parentheses is the percentage of positive cells (mean ± standard deviation after background correction); only positive animals were considered. On average 1,300 F4/80+ cells, 7,600 B220+ cells, 4,100 CD4+ T cells, and 2,000 CD8+ T cells were counted. Fluorescence-activated cell sorter analysis of CD46 expression on cells of eight mice revealed a mean fluorescence of 24 for F4/80+ cells, 30 for B220+ cells, 11 for CD4+ T cells, 5 for CD8+ T cells, and 0.1 for erythrocytes.
