Sex-specific differences in the size of atherosclerotic lesion in the aortic arch (A) and aortic sinus (B) after low-dose arsenic, cadmium, and co-exposure in ApoE−/−mice. All the plaques were smaller than those observed with higher concentrations of arsenic and/or high-fat diet. Plaque was quantified after oil red O staining and imaged using ImageJ.
