State engagement variability increased with age in PNC and HBN. A shows the activation patterns associated with the fixation, high-cognition, low-cognition, and cue/transition brain states. Across all four brain states, we observed a positive association between age and state engagement variability in PNC rest (B), HBN rest (C), and HBN movie (D). Results from Pearson correlation between state engagement variability and age are also reported here.
